Mt2500
Anyone ever have any issues with a Snapon MT2500. I bought a used one and when I plugged it into my 88 and turned on the key all electronics started jumping around. Dash was flashing on and off. I could hear thing clicking on and off. Not sure I want to plug it in again. I was in my 2011 Silverado when I picked it up. It did power up from my OBD11 port and attempt to connect to it but would not read it. I just figured it was because it did not have the software to read the later model. Did I buy a bricked brick? Luckily I didn't pay a lot for it.

No manual but I was able to download a basic manual for it. it had the Generic Primary Cartridge and a Troubleshooting Cartridge that both said up to 1998. I used the GM 1 adapter which should be the correct one.

When everything started acting crazy I turned the ignition off and unplugged it. I didn't have time this morning to look into it further.

if my memory is correct you need key 11 for GM cars

You don't need a key for a 89 but you do need the 12 volts from the lighter with the ignition on but not started. Then see what options you have on the screen. Select GM if available and follow the prompts.
