We also do not have any snow but its been raining on and off over the last few days and the weather has been pretty dreary. If we get a clear day I'll take the 86 out. I just enjoy driving the car!

im not alone!
im in calgary canada. got snow in nov. we get warm winds here called "chinooks" that melt the snow.
they do salt. and gravel.
i wait a until gravel is all tossed off the road within a few days of the snow melting. as for salt, meh, im sure there is salt dust yeah, i dont care, i devised a pressure washer attachement so that i put it under the car and it sprays up. i use warm water and i do it every few days using water directly off my hot water tank. i do not think its going to spontaneously burst into a rust bucket with that sort of care. i hope!!
very glad to see that i am not alone in letting the vettes drink some cold sub zero freezing air!!
took this a couple years ago sometime in december.

Yeah, summer tires lose their stickiness dramatically as temps get colder since the compounds used in summer tires are meant for summer temps...one does need to be careful thinking you can take a sharp corner at the same speed in the winter that you could during summer! Doesn't mean you can't drive them in the winter, but if you like to drive aggressively into corners, it could be problem if it's really cold out.

Winter hit Ohio hard. On Jan 8th, the day I had surgery on my knee, it was 58 to 60, deg, Jan 9th, it had dropped to 30. It has been p*ss*ng around a bit, trying to get us to remember what season it really is, and last night mother nature just said ph*ck it, I'll show em. We have somewhere between 18 and 24 inches of snow in the backyard. I had to snowblow paths for the dogs. This morning my wife walked my Shih Tzu, he jumped in the snow and disappeared.
This is what the highway looked like a little while ago. Last night we had snow plows running the street every half hour or so to keep it clear.
Sometimes the plows on the highway will line up 3 or 4 abreast and "gang plow" the road.

Yeah, winter showed up here too. It was 55 and sunny this morning, now it is 18 with 20+ mph winds.
No snow yet, so there is that.

When I bought my 91 in October it needed new tires so bought General GMax RS which are "summer tires" which driving in low temps will cause serious damage.. If I had it to do over again I probably would gone for a set of all weather performance tire.

Oh by the way, I forgot to say, it was 11 deg when I took that photo around 5:00'ish. You slam a glass car door shut and she breaks into a million pieces.
Nah, just kidding. But could you imagine the look on someone's face if that happened ?
Tomorrow the low is supposed to be -4.

I have been out hunting when the temps were an honest 25'ish or more something below and the wind chill pushed it to 50 below.
I have talked to acquaintances down south and they can't comprehend that.
My daughter has acclimated to San Antonio temps. She is here visiting, however, I had bought her cold weather gear for when she visits and she is out sledding with her brother and my grandkids.
My buddy lives in Alberta Ca. He has been out on the dozer working in the oil fields when the temps were an honest 40 below.

I'm jealous! I was in the warm south last week and skiing this week. The driveway and trees are full of ice now. There's heavy salt on the roads after the storm this past weekend.
It's gonna be a while for spring, but sooner than for some.

From a low of -4 the other day, with 20 inches of snow, to a high of 46 today and pouring rain with slush everywhere, Ohio is schizophrenic, definitely fell off its Prozac.
Then we have a forecast for a low of -8 by the 30th, which, because of the low area I live in translates to 10 below.
You southern folks have no idea. Family obligations are all but to the point where my wife and I can leave. I want to go where I don't have to put my car away for 8 months of the year and the same with our travel trailer.
I realize that the car would get more than 3000 miles on it a year, but the sacrifice would be worth it.

it was 29* here this morning, wet, windy, and the reason i relocated here from the st. louis area back in 1981. st. louis has also been pounded with freezing temps and lots of snow lately. the heater has been going in the garage while i get enough courage to go out there and do some work on the 96.
