Did C4 seatbelts change?
I ordered a used seatbelt off of ebay, they said fits 86-96 C4 corvettes, mine is an 88 but the buckle is different. Stock on my car is wide and this one is pretty narrow, otherwise everything else looks the same. Just wondering if there were any years where they changed these? Or if the recalled ones were different than the originals? Waiting on a response from the seller to see if they have the other piece. I wasn't expecting to run into this issue.

In a 'very' round about way i can confirm yours C4 and yes an '88 etc. Take the # from the one you bought to a GM dealer 'parts dept' and they should be able to confirm an original application for it and they should be able to ID it. My information is all on paper and micro-fiche, the one you bought is likely later and 'maybe' NOT. C4. I have C4 production #s of likely all C4 belts through '93. Is that a later C4? Don't know.? If someone with later C4 checked theirs they could confirm. A black 'retractor side' - coupe and 'vert different.

After some off and on digging over the past couple hours, I ended up finding out 95-96 seat belts are different and match directly with what I recieved. So I might just see if I can get a buckle from those years and make this work.

Yup. If you noticed, the buckles before 95 had the release button on the side of the buckle reciever on the side facing the console. Kind of a pain in the butt. The reciever part on 95 and 96 have the release button on top and its red. Basically the same setup they use now. You just need to buy the other half. You'll be much happier with the newer design.
