Double DIN radio that fits 94-96 trim
Was hoping to upgrade my existing JVC to something a little more mordern with a screen, blutooth, and backup cam ready.
Found all that that in the Boss BV755B and at a price point of around $130 from Crutchfield. Received the radio today and found that it is about 1.5mm all around too big (caliper verified) to fit through the opening in the plastic trim panel. Spent 45 minutes convincing Crutchfield of the same (including downloading a Skype-like app). I understand the tech had to do his due diligence but this was a square peg into a round hole.
Anyway, the lesson is that just because Crutchfield or other says it will fit doesn’t mean it will fit.
The primary want was blutooth for streaming but then I figured if I’m upgrading the touch screen and backup cam were modern nice to haves. Anyone find one at a similar price point (~$150) with those features that confirm a proper fit?

There are two or three options I know of for touch screens that don't require any cutting, they are:
1) Single Din motorized flip up (Several options to choose from including Chinese Android head units)
2) Single Din chinese android with "moveable" screen

3) Single Din chinese windows CE with 4" screen

Number 3 does not have have any option for GPS if you wanted that function.

I've had two different double din units in my 96 so I know they can definitely fit. My first one was a JVC, later I wanted an upgrade to have Android Auto and ended up with an Alpine. Neither would be within your $150 target so I can't really give recommendations there, just wanted to assure you that a double din can fit.

sorry I wasn't thinking later years. Max you should have to do is trim the surround a little bit. Double din is double din, They are a standard size.

My existing JVC is a double DIN and fits fine. The BOss double din is just ever so slightly too large - it may be a standard size but there is some variance.
The Sony is more than I’d like to spend. This car doesnt get driven much and I’ve already spent a small fortune on new leather this winter.
I’m hesitant to trim the plastic, primarily because I just vinyl wrapped it in carbon fiber and it was a complete pain to do that piece! I’d have to remove the vinyl, trim, wrap again. May head down that path eventually but not there yet.
I found another headunit with the features I want + navigation. I ordered it from Walmart but I’m not hopeful.... same brand, Boss, different model. We’ll see.
thanks for the replies

Looks great. I bought the same unit for my '90, but being winter and all I have not pulled anything apart to do the install. Any fitment issues, or much trimming required? Did you bypass the CDM to use the factory Bose speakers?

Here’s my Kenwood DoubleDin Headunit in my 94, it fit maybe a TINY amount of trimming on the backside but nothing visible from the front. OEM bezel:

I did a teat fit on my AVH-1300NEX last night. it fits left to right. It fits top to bottom. It does not fit in the top two corners. They appeared to have a slight radius, where the stereo is sharp 90 degrees. I snipped a tiny bit out of the radius and it fit. You can't see its been cut. I'll dive into the wiring tomorrow. The previous aftermarket has straight to speaker wiring and it looks like there was a sub at some time.

I used a rat tail file to trim the top corners just a tad, like others have said, you can't see it once installed. I don't believe I bipassed anything, I used the wiring adapter that came from crutchfield.
