Default Belt line

How hard is it to remove the belt line from an 85. I’m looking to have mine painted and I don’t want the belt line painted.

Not sure about removing it but your painter should be able to easily tape off and shoot the rest of the car.

The front and rear bumper covers will need to be removed for access to the mounting nuts. The door trim has nuts at the front and rear of the trim, and the center of the trim has snap-in "grippers". Use a long flat blade screw diver to pop the "grippers" loose: I agree with you. Removing the trim is the right way to paint the car!

I think you'll find that if your car was subjected to any kind of rusting on the mounting studs, most likely you'll destroy the trim removing it. plan on replacing it with either NOS or repro. with others - remove for repaint. BTW, it takes something like 60 retaining nuts for side molding installation. check out this thread - https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ning-nuts.html

Thank you all for the info. Looks like I will order a new set before I start taking mine off.
