91 L98 Convertable, Auto.
Hey all,
A friend of mine needs some cash and he’s got a 2 owner L8 91’ (he’s had it for 19 years). It’s in great shape. Never seen the rain. 48000 miles. It’s an automatic with the Z07 suspension option. Color is Steel Blue Metallic. Ragtop only. Bose system that all works. Black leather. The antennae doesn’t go up. Other than that, it runs and drives great. It’s got the turbine wheels. No paint or body dings. Really clean. I think I can own it for $6500. Fair deal?

$6500 is a GREAT deal for a 91 Convertible with that mileage and in the condition it looks to be especially one with the Sport Seats and FX3 which btw is what it has..the Z07 was only available on manual Coupes in 91....

This forum will be a tremendous asset for you.. Between them, the people here understand every, single, part of that car and what it will take and cost to repair or modify it.
They're an excellent flight crew for something new to you and you should bookmark it and ask questions as they arise... Because here you'll get the right answers.
Good luck. Nice car!

That sounds like a very fair price on a really nice car. I would easily pay that much for that car.

I just checked pricing on an '89 coupe and it was $6.4k, so the price on that '91 sounds good.
BTW, if you do buy it...PLEASE...swap (turn around) either the front or rear wheels...

Sounds like a fair price, I would ask when was the last time he changed the fluids, and how old are the tires. Looks like it has all options, available at the time.
Enjoy your new ride and Spring is here for that top down weather.
PS, Your engine a L98, good strong engine, with that mileage not even broken in yet!

On the passenger side the rear wheel is on backwards, which means the drivers side is most likely backwards too, unless the passenger rear wheel was replaced with a drivers side wheel.
To correct this, both rear wheels must be removed from the car, the tires removed from the wheels, and then replaced on the correct wheels. You generally cannot just switch the wheels from one side to the other as the tires are directional and must be mounted correctly.
Steel Blue Metallic is a great color, and somewhat unusual, as not too many were made. My first C4 was Steel Blue.

Making some progress. Still too cold up here to detail outdoors so I’ve been working on some other things in the garage. I detailed all the interior vinyl and leather today. Looks good. Got the rear wheels mounted on the proper side and discovered a marginal tire. First major expense (new set on order). The lid cap wasn’t releasing on one side. I figured that out as well. The cable has a stop on it that pulls to release that latch when the solenoids are activated. Must have been stretched a bit. No real way to adjust the stop so I bent the bracket back a bit and bingo. Good for now, plus I found the manual cable releases just in case.
Everything works, including the entire Bose system. FX3 is working.
Body detail next as soon as I get a 55 degree day.
