Default 85 Corvette needs a new heater core

I've seen some older posts about how to replace the heater core but there is nothing new enough that contains pictures. I've started the process and have the seat and under dash trim out. I've gotten to the bottom 3 screws of the housing cover and found the top left side one...……..major pain getting to it though. Not sure where the 5th screw is located so any help would be great. Also don't know if I need to remove the support bar going from the dash to the door pillar in order to get the cover off once I finally get all 5 screws out. Thanks for any input.

Default I live in fear of heater cores

Was once told that when a C4 was built job 1 was a heater core coming down the line on a hook and then a car was built around it!

Yep, that support bar needs to come out. Reaching that top bolt is a b****! Here's my (rather weird) answer to that top bolt: 13 mm box/open end wrench with 1/2" extension and ratchet:

Fun, fun, fun!

the hidden one was top, driverside. locate it with a light and a mirror. use blacktape trick to hold screw in socket for reinstall.

i had to grind a 13mm socket down to make it more shallow for the upper bolt onbthe dash brace bar iirc.

good luck

Quarter inch ratchet, universals and sockets plus an assortment of extensions. I was upside down in the passenger side every day for a week.
But I have a great story of when it blew up going 100.
