Default Do you prefer the first or second generation C4 interior?

Which interior design do you prefer and why?

Personally, I like the '90 and up interiors, but some say they were a step backwards from the all digital Atari dash. The 90+ interior seems to be more reliable (no dash electronic burnout issues) as well, but what are some opinions from those who have owned both?

I bought a 91 because I thought the change in 1990 was a great improvement over the "video game" Dash.

I really like the digital dash, mainly cause its unique, but yes it is a ton of problems, but besides that I prefer the later style a lot more. I think the last version of the door panels are the best to.

I’ve had several C4’s with all the different styles(2 85’s an 87, 88, 89, 90, 94, 95) and I used to prefer the 94-96 as my favorite especially with the Sport Seats which is what my 94 had NOW I’m all about the RETRO-80’s digital dash

Which Is the main reason why I bought my 89 a couple months ago as I could have gotten a 96 but I specially wanted the 89 because of the interior and am very happy I did love the gauges especially at NIGHT

Love the 89-93 SPORT SEATS too probably my favorite Corvette seats aside from the C7 competition seats so an 89 with the sports is my FAVE

I really like the early ones, including the Atari dash. Mostly though, I like everything else about it. Angular and functional, it's retro cool at this point, imo.

Except for the breadbox, which I immediately got rid of.. Once that is gone, I think it is perfect.

Love the digi-dash in my '88 so much that I bought an '89 and like its seats even more. Also, '89 was the last year of the digi-dash with the "new" ZF 6-speed.

Yep just look at all the top exotic sports cars Lambo Audi Ferrari etc.and C7 of course ..they ALL have digital gauges 1970’s and before of course EVERYTHING was analog then the 80’s went digital and was definitely the “high tech” cool thing then the 90’s came and for some reason digital went out of style up until a few years ago and is WAY in now..and I don’t fiorsee the Corvette or any of the top exotics EVER going back to Analog but you never know

I thought the same thing and In the mid 90’s I sold a perfectly nice 87 Coupe I had for a 90 convertible mainly because I wanted a convertible but almost as much a reason because I wanted the “cockpit” style dash NOW I’ve gone full circle...

Yeah, maybe it's because I'm GenX? But it really takes me back to the era.

That's worth something to me. I wouldn't like the car as well with a swoopy inside, because they all look like that now.

I like the 84-89 dashes. I have a 95 but prefer the early digital dash and seats.

The early dash is too flat and that bread box. I love the fighter jet cockpit of the later cars. I have an 91 and an 96 and I like the extended "divider" and the glove box of the 91, but the 96 has better gauges.

I prefer the look of the first generation car as a whole which is why I specifically was looking for an 85-87. I like the interior and dash of the earlier cars. The Atari dash appeals to me for some reason. Had I found the right later car though, I would probably have given it a hard look if the price was right.

I like the late interiors better.

I do not like the early dash gauges. To me it seems like the tachometer was too hard to follow and reacted slower. This was a problem when trying to race it and make shifts at the right time. The analog seems to be easier to follow and has smooth movement.

I like the '94 to '96 seats.

I had '85,'87,'88,94,'94,'95,'96 cars.

Yup, exactly what I did. Almost two years search but I found an original body, Atari dash, 6 speed '89 in red. And I didn't have to fly to go see it.

Many times I feel that original car designs nail it and then the follow on "freshenings" just look tacked on.
