Default C5/C6 wheel fitment

Thanks in advance. I know this question has been asked before, but I'm going to ask again as I've seen differing answers. Will all factory C5 wheels fit my stock 1989? Will and C6 wheels fit my stock C4. I happen to live in an area where there is a seller with multiple sets of C5 and C6 rims with and without tires. I don't have an interest in changing anything on my car to accommodate new wheels and tires, so I'm hoping to see if C5 wheels/tires and/or C6 wheels and tires will fit with no modification.

Update: I ended up purchasing a very nice set of painted 5 spoke rims 8.5"x17" front and 9.5"x18" rears from a circa 2002 C5? Thanks for all the replies. I think I'll do a dry fit to see if the 3/4" spacer makes a huge difference. Do the folks who have used the 3/4" hub centric spacer recommend all four corners are only the rears? Thanks again!

My 92 has C5 wheels on it. They are 18" in the back and 17" in the front. They look ok without spacers but 3/4-1" spacers would line them up better. I'm OK with no spacers. Not sure about C6 wheels, offset is probably different.

The sizes and offsets are listed below.

88-96 base
16"x 8.5"- 50mm
17"x 8.5"- 56mm
17"x 9.5"- 56mm

ZR1 rear
17"x 11"- 36mm

Grand Sport rear
17"x 11"- 50mm

C5 base
17"x 8.5"- 56mm
18"x 9.5"- 65mm

C5 Z06
17"x 9.5"- 54mm
18"x 10.5"- 58mm

I put C5 wheels on mine a couple times. See pictures below. Without any spacers.

Note that the rear C5 tires are taller than the fronts, so it will change the "rake" of the car. I did not like that change and if you have stock C5 run flats they are very stiff too.

C5 wagon wheels (the thinspokes (polished or painted) have the same sizes and offsets.)

C5 Z06 wheels (replicas with the same sizes and offsets as stock)

I have not used C6 wheels on mine, but the sizes and offsets are listed below.

C6 base
18"x 8.5"- 56mm
19"x 10"- 79mm

C6 Z06
18"x 9.5"- 40mm
19"x 12"- 59mm

So my best guess on C6 wheel fitment is that the front base C6 wheels would fit fine. The rear base C6 would be too far inboard and would need spacers/adapters. The C6 Z06/GS would not be a good fit. The fronts are too far outboard and the rears are simply too big to fit so there could be problems rubbing on both the inside and outside.

Good luck

Those fronts should fit all four corners of a 1989 C4 with a 275/35 tire. They'll be set 16mm further outboard than the stock 17x9.5 et56 wheels (less than 2/3" outboard), but there's plenty of room in the fender for them. They won't poke out. You may notice more tramlining with them, since you're increasing the scrub radius from stock - it will be more similar in that respect to an early (84-87) C4. Note that I run 11" wheels with 50mm offset on all four corners of my car, with no rubbing and no poke. I agree 100% with you about the rear fitment, though.

C5 fit well, but as stated, 3/4 hubcentric on the back to "true up" the lines is best. Did this on my dad's 93 vert. 1look fantastic, not to mention the expansion of great tire options.
