Default 93 vert. Headlights open / close but motor spins longer

Curious if anyone knows what might be going on.

the headlight motors keep spinning for a couple seconds even after the headlight has either fully opened or fully closed

used to not do this

any ideas?

Time to rebuild the motors with new gears and pellets. It’s most likely just the pellets, but it’s best to be prepared with new gears as well if you’re already going in there.

Ok. Simple enough

Are those an NOS GM item?

or only reproduction ones available?

I did a rebuild a few months ago for the same issue. Ended up just replacing the pellets, which had disintegrated. I had planned on replacing the gears as well, but they were in basically perfect condition and got reused.

Well, would you rather chew up a plastic gear, or use a bronze gear and maybe chew up the motor?

"I would suggest using the plastic instead of the brass. If there is a problem you would rather strip the plastic gear and save the motor which runs in the $300 plus range than have the brass gear hold together and ruin the motor." This from a C4 owner which most agree with

I used the bronze gear w/ silicon grease. No issues in several years now...for what it's worth.
