Default How do you keep the sun out when you take the roof off?

Sorry if its in the wrong forum. I am new to the vette world and forums.

I just recently took off the top on my “new” C4 94 vette, i love how it feels and looks but I cannot stand the sun too much and this car gets hot fast inside.

Is there anything i can do to keep the sun off me but also keep the roof off? Any DIY screens or sun shades?

Btw my AC doesn’t work, I recharged it and swap out the fuses i saw. I disconnected the battery to see if that restarted the compressor but nada. Windows don’t open but I ordered the motors so hopefully soon!

Oh and it kinda blows cold air when i put it to blow on the feet/floor.

sorry if i reply late as i hardly get online.

Roof off, what you think I live in Florida or something. Glass top is my 'sun roof'.

Similar here: "Corvette" cap, shades and sun screen.

You likely will find more comfort after you get the windows repaired so they drop fully.

When i bought my C5 I had the top off more in the first three months than in the last five years I owned it. I just got tired of taking it on and off. The open air experience just wasn't worth the hassle to me.

Now I have a C7 and the top weighs half what the C5's did. It hasn't been off yet.

No AC in a c4 is brutal! These things are like ovens inside, lol. My AC wasn’t working for a while and it almost made the car non drivable in the summer. I’m no expert, but I learned a few things about the AC system getting it running on my 94 so if you have questions let me know. Have you determined if the AC clutch is even trying to engage at all? If the refrigerant charge is too low it won’t let it stay engaged so it will constantly cycle on and off until it has a sufficient charge in the system to stay engaged.

Once you've owned a convertible for a while, you find that the only time it is great is on a warm summer NIGHT!.

My top was off all weekend in my 91 and enjoyed every second of it, but if your windows don't work I can see that being brutal. My face and arms got a great tan just over the last two days. The AC works great but I hardly use it cause enjoy the windows down.

Since I got my glass top it comes off much less than it used to. But there is a spacer for the rear hatch that allows airflow out by holding the rear window open a crack at the latch. Besides the hat and shades don’t forget sunscreen

you ordered new motors because neither window opens? Good luck with that!

Yes it gets hot in a C4, top on or off, and is especially so when the AC isnt working. Theres not much material between you and the engine and tranny.

Put on sunglasses and a hat, put in the hatch vent, thats all there is for you to do. You're going to bake, drive fast enough so that the wind buffetting cools you down.

I'm still running with the top on and the windows closed. Nice weather here, eh. Sun? What's that, forgot what it's like ....

Guys, I drive with the top off and the AC on. Point the vents down towards the seats. Makes a huge difference.

Worth every penny. After installing this and the mirror deflectors, I get very little, if any wind buffeting. This doesn't solve the original question about keeping the sun out, but it will cool things down some....when you're moving. .
