Will a C6 head unit fit in a '91 C4?
My '91 has an inop Bose system. My '09 has the base non-Bose HU with Rockford Fosgate speakers. I'm thinking about upgrading the '09 system to something with nav and putting the base HU from the '09 into the '91 along with new speakers. For just a few hundred dollars more than just putting a new aftermarket unit in the '91, I can upgrade the C6 and have a decent working stereo in the C4.
I'm wondering how feasible it is, both from a physical fit perspective as well as wiring. If I did it, I would want to have the Bluetooth call feature of the '09 HU active, so I'd have to hook up some kind of microphone to it. The C6 unit may not have a power antenna wire, either.
Does anyone know how feasible this swap would be? More trouble than it's worth?

It could be made to fit, but the c6 radio turns on via a data command, not normal wiring. The bluetooth would likely not work as ot interfaces with other in car ystrm. Plus the mounts are all wrong. Not worth the hassle or cost vs buying an aftermarket radio.

X 2. Waste of time for dubious results.

Have you considered having the Bose unit repaired? I like climbing into my '94 and being surrounded by the vintage technology, like a trip back through time. To each his own, but I really can't complain about mine, as it's in fine working shape. The only mod I might make would be an input for an iPod or iPhone, but as long as it works, I'm letting it be.

Thanks for the feedback. I was thinking it'd probably be more complicated than I was aware of. It's never that simple!
Newtomevette, I would happily keep it if the system was in working order. Since it's not, I don't think it makes sense to spend more fixing it than it would cost to get an up-to-date system with more features.
