1990 c4 convertible luggage rack set up
Hello,
What do people use for this C-4 luggage & tie down? I have heard Pelican cases- what size? How does it remain secure at 100 mph? Taking our first trip. We really need your help!
Thanks

It was only an option on convertibles. I don't have my black book in front of me, but I thought it was something like 1200 left the factory with that option in 1990.
My '90 has one, but I've never used it. I'd be curious what others chime in with as far as securing luggage to the rack.

I have a rack on my 92. I use a small mobility scooter, and have it on the rack when I need to. (I use a protective panel between the rack and the scooter.) There are openings in the rack slats for attaching tie-downs.. My scooter weighs 75 pounds, and I have traveled hundreds of freeway miles with it mounted on the rack with no issues. But I do get many curious looks!
Note: the pieces that have the holes for tie-down are NOT metal (they are plastic), and can break with too much tension. Don't ask me how I know. I fixed that problem by welding some bent rods to pieces of flat bar, and then installing those under the factory slats. (See pic) My tie-downs now hook onto those metal pieces, which can take a lot more tension.

When I traveled with C4 convertible I would ship care packages to the hotels I was staying at for several night, and then when leaving to another Hotel stay, I packed tape & address labels and toss on my dirty clothes and shipped it back home from the Hotel.
The arriving at the next hotel, another care package.
This way we took very little in clothes and was able drop the tops to enjoy country side.
