Face Bashing into roll-up windows
How many of you, or your passengers, have bumped or scraped their face on the rolled-up window when entering or exiting your Corvette? It's quite a surprise to those that impact the edge of the window glass with their nose or forehead, especially if they're wearing glasses! I always warn all my passengers to be careful of the angled-in clear roll-up windows! I guess darker tint would help solve the problem, but beware of factory clear!!!

Hey, a guy on the C6 forums once posted his concern about falling out of a C6 while driving down the road. I mean....W....T.....F. This thread ain't THAT bad!

Clarification...
I should have stated that this face bashing mostly occurs when the door is open 45 degrees or less, and the door window is rolled up. If the window had a door frame around it...there'd be no problem. I swear to you, this can be an issue with one hitting or scraping their face at the top edge of the window when entering or exiting a C4. I did it once and learned to be careful. This has been a C4 Corvette public service announcement.

Never. But.....
My windows were so spotless one time that, I "thought" they were both rolled down because my passenger side was.
And I had to spit.....
Yup.
All over the inside of the window.
Luckily I had plenty of napkins in the console for a quick clean-up in Aisle 5. Hahaha

I've never hit my head on the window glass and I always assist my passenger when she is entering.
That said I have had the window top smack me upside my head when making a RH turn with rear wheels spinning when they suddenly "grip".

I cant even figure out how you guys are doing this. Like I don't even get why your face is near there. I get out with my hands full regularly without issies. Are you like trying to roll out of it or something?

All I know is I have had my '85 since new and I have never even heard of this before. I think it says something about the people that are doing this. I'll let you guys decide what that is. And, at this point I am having a hard time believing this is a serious thread.

I had this issue in a very specific set of circumstances: when the door isn't open all the way and I'm fumbling with something in my hands or otherwise distracted and still looking IN the car, rather than OUT (the direction I'm going). It's completely avoidable if you open the door all the way, but in my case that isn't always possible depending on how my wife parks the @#$!$ SUV in the garage. (She prefers to have about 9 feet of space on the driver's side, which occasionally puts it much closer than I would like to the 'vette).
I had one bump the first time but since then it hasn't really been a problem. I really assumed it only happened because I'm a clumsy as all hell, though.

An open hood is the same for this phenomenon.
I wear a hat.... all the time. Because I wear a hat my overhead vision tends to be obscured. I find myself bashing my head pretty frequently on the wheel well opening on the hood when working in the engine compartment. I did it so many times one day that I hung strips of blue painters tape from the edges so I would remember to swing my head around.
I swear it never happens with my Jetta.
Haven't bashed my head on the door glass yet (dark tint), but I can certainly see how it could happen. I think it has to do with preconceived notion. We only use 3% of our brains 90 percent of the time because everything is pretty much the same 90 percent of the time. Muscle memory plays a part in this as well. Just like getting in and out of my C4.... I had to train myself how to do it properly and started tucking my shoelaces in because the emergency brake handle tried to kill me on a few occasions. Not sure what it is called, but the carpeted closeout tray thing under the steering column.... where it sticks out on the left side of my 88.... that's a knee knocker that still gets me from time to time.
It's totally worth it though!!

I use to keep one of my cars at my parents house before we moved. One day my dad got into the passenger side and said lets go for a ride. Now he weighed around 230 lbs. and was 6ft 1 and in his late 70's having trouble with his legs. It was my black 91 ZR1. I took him through the country side for a nice ride. Then got on the interstate coming home and got it up to just under 150 mph. He was holding on and looked a bit nervous. Upon arriving back home he told my mother we were doing over 145 mph. But he quickly found he couldn't get out of the car. His head was hitting the upper edge of the top. Mind you that his age was playing a part in this. My mother said she could call the fire department but I said it would be easier if I just removed the top. Once the top was out he was able to extricate himself from the car. That high sill beam does make it harder to get in and out especially older people. It was the only time my dad was to ride in one of my Corvettes. It made a big impression on him as he told everyone about the ride and how fast we'd been.

WTF, never in the 23 years of owning my 96 has any passenger done that...you need to find new people to ride with!

I'm certain Chevy spent millions on this issue and re-engineered and corrected it in the new C8

There is a warning about this on page 63 in the owner's manual.
