Already have c5. Should i buy CLEAN c4 for DD?
Recently purchased extra clean 2002 C5 with 155k milea on it for $8000. Like new condition. I also have an extra clean 2000 BMW 740il i drive to work monday-thursday and bring out the vette fri-sun. I am strongly considering selling my bmw which has 157k miles on it as well, and purchasing a garage kept 1993 C4 with 84k miles and in prestine condirion inside and out and comes with brand new tires and headlight motors as well as spare targa top ..all for around $7k. I was going to use the lower mileage c4 as the daily driver and the c5 for weekends. Is not Two PRESTINE vettes for $15k or less an amazing deal? And wouldnt the c4 with half the miles be more reliable than the BMW as a DD as well as possess lower maintenance costs?

Why not just daily the super high mile c5, and keep the c4 with its lower miles for when the c5 is broke, or nice days?

Yes this is true. I could do it that way. My thinking was spare the c5 due to the much higher mileage and it being the nicer car. But I guess preserving the classic may be the more logical choice?

Are you looking to get a more reliable car for your daily car and have a toy as well? Normally I too would say daily drive the c5 . But since the mileage is almost the same as your BMW you might as well keep using it and use the C5 for the weekends.....for now.

You'll be much happier using the C5 as a daily. 155k on a well kept one ain't **** as far as mileage is concerned.

I DD my 100k+ mile C5 and I drive my 27k mile 89 about every other weekend...it would be insane to do it the other way around
Compared to a 93 C5’s are just better DD’s
better smoother ride especially over bumps
easier to get in and especially OUT of
easier/quicker to take roof off
better passing power on highway
fuel injectors handle ethanol gas MUCH better
a couple better mpg
much more cargo storage
more leg/head room
parts that go are just more available and cheaper in most cases
Plus if you put 50k on a 155k mike car it’s going to affect the value less than if you put it on a 80k mile car
It’s a no-brainer
CD-DD

My 98 740il was one of the best cars I ever owned... and aside from a coolant overflow tank replacement, I had zero problems with it. My wife daily drove it for 5 years..... I miss that car... Ive had multiple vintage BMWs that were daily driven and had absolutely no issues with any of them.

Melting Slicks
Having owned both - the C4 is an awesome car - but I would never consider it a DD (too tight / cockpit feel). The C5 is also an amazing car, but offers a lot more room and comfort over a C4.
Also - there is no BMW on the planet that costs less to maintain than a Corvette...but I still wouldn't say go get a C4 to avoid German maintenance costs...I would say continue to drive your C5.

JUST DRIVE THE 155k mile c5 everyday...
what are you saving it for unless you work in a ghetto with no parking?
i daily my 2008 c6 z51 m6 which is in excellent condition and ive put on 134k miles since new...
whats the point of not enjoying the sports car you own everyday.
no offense to wonderful c4 s but really just use the 8 grand c5 with 155k mikes on it.

If you can do your own work, costs are very similar... if you've ever worked on a BMW, and you like doing it, you will find that the way they are assembled is pretty "user friendly" for lack of a better term... I can only speak for older BMWs, not newer ones. Newest Ive owned is 2006, and it never needed anything but oil changes... My favorites are E38 & E39 cars... allot of bang for the buck.

Okay so I agree. I will for sure keep the C5 and use it as a daily driver either way. I always have the BMW as a backup and 5 seater and it has been a great car. A family member needs a car and i have the chance to sell the BMW for around $3000 which would bring the 93 c4 with 84k miles down to around $4000 out of pocket. To switch to a car with half the mileage that is also a prestine C4 corvette for 4 grand seems to be hard to pass up. It is 4 grand i could use for investments as well but i just want to make the right choice both logically and financially. 4k wont hurt me in any way but even so i am not to ever spend frivolously. I will always have access to thr BMW if needed after selling it too.
