Corvette Summer II
The search took about 6 months, and we came across a decent roller for a good price. We had discussed the theme and had originally thought of making a semi-replica of the Corvette Summer car (I know, horrific BUT instantly recognizable and iconic nonetheless.) The style also fits "eccentric" pretty well.
The more we talked about it, the more it seemed we need to stay closer to the C4's original lines. This spawned the idea of the never written, never produced "Corvette Summer II".
What would the car look like? What would be back story be? This is being sussed out as we speak. The car is partially stripped, the engine is a lovely shade of muddy brown inside and the passenger caliper mount was missing. The car will be stripped to the bone and only the necessities for running the race will be remaining. (also adding race seats, roll bar etc. for safety of course)
I figured it would be nice to hear from the community what it *should* look like, and also a great place to memorialize the project as we go through and ultimately race her.
Pictures will be forthcoming.
The plan is to create an 80's version of the Corvette Summer car, as it would look if some 80's shop class kids had their way. Toying with creating a storyline to go with it.
We have ground effect kits so far and a rear spoiler... I am pretty sure we are going to use the same color and have some kind of scoop that is a nod to the original.
Intake is being swapped to a 4 bbl Holley for reliability.
Thanks in advance for any and all feedback- I know some will love (tolerate?) it and some will hate it and that's perfectly fine.
Here is the storyboard for kicks:
:credits roll across a stormy sky: Pan to Mark Hamills back as you hear him scream nooooooooo! And hear the roar of a V8 in the distance and him chasing after... Scene 1: Mark Hamills now 60 year old character, a shop teacher longingly gazes at a weathered photo of the original Corvette Summer car. He throws it into the trash can next to his desk and slams the last drink of whiskey from his now empty bottle. "What's that son of mine gotten himself into?" "He was a good kid." Scene 2: flashback to his character and son in shop class with the other students learning how to change oil on a Chevy Citation....

Hood imo could have been real functional. ..cold air one side, hot air exiting the other.
Always liked oddball stuff.
