Open lid is when you either replace you air cleaner lid with just a frame, where the front of it is totally open, or you take yours and cut it out.
It will help make your car breath better and the supposadly faster, but I have my doughts about that. The only thing I notice is that it is a little louder when you step on it. Combined with other mods it may increase horsepower but just a K&N and an open lid, I really don't think it does much.

Every little bit counts. It means that you take that thing that covers up the air filter and cut the top off of it to expose the air filter more, so you take in more air. :steering:

I do like and did notice an ever so small difference in the smoothness after simply putting in the K&N filter.
Nothing documentable for performance though...
