Played with Dyno today (in Nashville)
We we able to pick up around 15 more hp/tq than where we startrd at. this was my first experience with a dyno, It feels funny going 100 MPH sitting still. everyone got a good laugh when I put my set belt on, jumping off that thing wouldn't be pretty. we made about 15 or so runs. it would not get traction, it would spin all the way thru first & second then shift into third - run would be over before it quit spinning the tires. (my tires are half gone now) I stayed in it longer one run and saw 140 when I shut it down. this is a mustang dyno so it is different somehow than a dynojet. I still have to scan the graphs but it says 365 hp. 376 torque. I need a better rear end and gear plus a torque converter. this dyno is new so their is a few things to figure out still. I did see 490 torque a few times.
The ower said he will work with people to set up dyno days ect.
Its in Mt. Juliet Tennessee

After some mods I want to hop on one....is that where they usually attatch the "harness" to the car? (In Photogallery)
Once again very  ...can't wait to see one of those dyno graphs on here!

Have you ever dynoed your car anywhere else? Just wondering if the results you saw are comparable. Maybe after he gets the bugs worked out, we can have a dyno day and bring some of the Nashville Vettes over.

:skep: That procedure doesn't sound right at all!
You're supposed to ease into which ever gear gives you a final drive ratio closest to 1:1. I think that would be 4th on the ZF but I can't remember. You shouldn't be going WOT through the first three gears :nonod: Once you get there, set up to 1500 RPM's then go WOT. If you spin then, you've got some serious HP!!

Having an auto you should have just started off and eased her through the first two gears, and then when it goes into third, NAIL IT!!! Typically 3rd gear is the one you go to WOT in on Auto's.

As for the dyno, I'm ready!! I'm glad Nashville is finally getting more than one dyno.
That looks like a Mustang dyno...correct?

:skep: That procedure doesn't sound right at all! :withstupid: When I had my 6 speed Z28 dyno'ed, it wasn't anything like that... He slowly ran through the gears until he was in fourth gear, and then it was a steady wide open run from around idle to redline in 4'th gear. I'm pretty sure you can test in other gears, but the procedure is the same.
As for the dyno, I'm ready!! I'm glad Nashville is finally getting more than one dyno.

We had it set to do 1/4 mile runs at first and burned alot of rubber with out to much sucess. Could not get traction at all. On one third gear run saw 140 mph and shut it down. we started to get things sorted/figured out better late in the day, we were forced to quit because of wifes /family ect. calling. so we will try again later.
My engine is a 6in rod 383 eagle kit, with ported & worked heads, 1.6 roller rockers, lingenfelter cam, intake was port matched, honed, siemiese, ect. with a rebuilt throttle body bored to 52mm. TPIS long tube headers, high flow cat, flowmaster 50 series, 3 chamber, MSD wires, & cap,

Wow, 365rwhp is nothing to sneeze at, especially since you still have the (basically) stock TPI on there! Congrats!

Re: Played with Dyno today
I have dynoed everything from my 4 wheeler (51 HP at the wheels btw) to my motorcycle and cars. Everyone one of them eases through the gears until 4 and then hammers the throttle.
I can't imagine why he'd want anyone to nail it out of the hole.
Congrats on the numbers though. (and btw, the 490 was a spike, toss it out)
