Brake Pad Life
How many miles do you get on your pads? I changed my rears at 55K miles.
The car now has 95K and I hear the indicators on the front brakes (never been changed). Obviously this is a highway car. The only hard driving is a few autocrosses a year.
My 1986 Z28 (Disc/Drum) hasn't had a change in 125K with a little life left in the pads.

My 1986 Z28 (Disc/Drum) hasn't had a change in 125K with a little life left in the pads. I just changed mine out front and rear with about 60K miles. Rear ones had about 25% life left, front ones showed relatively little wear at all. I think it depends on the type of pads and how you use your brakes.

Generally speaking, 70% of the braking is on the front wheels and the front pads wear out a lot faster...curious

You indeed have a unique situation! Have you installed a DRM proportioning spring?

I've wondered that myself. I haven't changed the DRM or anything (Including fluid :( ). I once had a 1993 Z28 and the rears were changed at 50K. I traded it in at 58K (on the Vette  ). The fronts were still original.
On my disc/drum 1986 Z28, the fronts pads last 1/2 as long as the rear shoes.
