GTP Corvette
I don't know much about C4 vette history, and I have never knew that they actually had a racing version of C4 vette. There are some links to pictures of GTP Corvette below. If you look closely to the picture of the first link, it has a C4 logo.:yesnod: I just got my January, 2004 issue of Corvette Magazine; I looked up in the personal classified section, and saw an ad that they're selling 10.6 liter Eagle 4 cam engine GTP Corvette that produces 956 HP@5,700~5,800rpm and capable of 250+ mph. I wonder who's going to own it? The ad is in pg.97 in Corvette Magazine. By the way, what's GTP stand for?

If you're interested in buying it, the ad says to visit http://www.4-lesco.com or call them at (805) 466-3893. They, also, said "Open to real offers." I guess that means they want to sell it for 6 or 7 figures.:crazy: Way out of my budget. :cry

Re: GTP Corvette (Goody)
The car in question wasn't really a C-4. It was a slightly re-bodied Lola GTP car built in the mid 80's and was raced on the IMSA curcuit. Bobby Rahal drove one at the Columbus 500 street race back then. (did have a small block Chevy for power) :yesnod:

Re: GTP Corvette (FC2000)
I have one of those motors in my race car. The difference is they run 14.5:1 compression, I run 9.5:1. They bore theirs to 427ci mine is a 396ci. I have a lot of room to build with mine.

Ah yes, IMSA in the 80's. Great racing, cool cars. Killed off by the all conquering Toyotas too bad, really.
But I digress.
The GTP Corvette was a Lola with a twin turbo V-6 run by Hendrick motorsport of NASCAR fame. It was fast but fragile, Sarel van de Merwe and Bill Adam (now a comentator on Speed Channel) took pole at Daytona in '85 but DNF'd. I think they did manage a couple of wins but mostly there were a lot of front row starts with bad luck and dnf's.
The V-8 was a later addition long after its short (official GM) IMSA career was over.
I recall a grid interview with Bill where the pit reporter asked (tongue in cheek) what parts were common between the GTP Corvette and the street version. The reply? "Well we're using a completely stock winshield washer motor to circulate water through the cool suit."
Oh yeah, another thing. This was also at a time when people a GM were pushing for a turbo V-6 option for the street Vette. I think that part of this program was a lame attempt to get some buzz going for that.
