Has anyone seen or tried to install a set of aftermarket side pipes on a C-4? I think it would really look great if there is a way to keep it legal by using converters and stright pipes in the side pipe covers. I have a complete set of THRUSH side pipe covers and I'm trying to find a way to use them.
I've read several posts about this in the past and I agree with the concensis: side pipes on a C4 really look bad. You have to take off the lower panels below the doors to do it and there really isn't a way to route the pipes from the engine compartment. One guy had thought that coming out of the gills would be a solution. I'm going to do a querry on C4 sidepipes and see if I can post a photo. They really don't look very good on a C4, unfortunately. The C3 has a better shape and seems able to tuck the pipes up into its sides. They stick out too far on a C4. *Give it a try, though--I like side pipes on older vettes and if you can find a way to put them on a C4 so that they look good, THAT WOULD BE GREAT!!!
They make the middle of the car look really low to the ground. Unless you plan on adding ground effects to the front and rear, they look too out of place.
I put the Side Effects on my '94 in a weekend...on jack stands...by myself. So it really ain't that hard if I can do it! Here's a link to a few pics of the install. Let me know if you have any questions, or if there's anything i can help ya with!

how do you like the sound of the side pipes? have any clips? do they resonate alot?
Personally....i LOVE the sound! Very "throaty". A little More resonance than stock around 1800rpm...but not NEARLY as bad as a lot of the aftermarket exhausts. They do offer a resonance chamber option with the kit, but i decided against it after hearing one WITH the chamber. Was way to mild for what i was wanting.
One of these days i'm gonna have to make a .wav file to post. Just haven't gotten around to it (yet). Lawrence does offer a CD with the exhaust notes, purchase price of the CD is refundable if you buy one of their systems.
