how much does it cost....?
I want to get my steering wheel recovered in black. Is this more cost effective than buying a new one? What does recovering one cost??

Ecklers lists $339 + 150 core charge. Don't know how much a new one would cost.

I know I can get one from Eklers, but I'm wondering how much it would cost to have someone recover mine.

They're on ebay all the time. At a fairly decent price. If I come across a link I'll post it here.

I guess nobody here has ever had their existing steering wheel, (the one that came with the car) recovered. I just thought it might be cheeper than buying one from Eklers or Mid Amer.

If you want to postpone recovering the wheel, try a "wheelskins" leather cover. They're ~$35 and very high quality. It takes between 1 and 2 hours to install, but if you do it right, it looks as good as the factory wheel. I installed one on my '94 to protect the wheel from deteriorating and I really like the thicker feel also.
