I've got a 1990 that up to this point hasn't had a spare tire. Bought a new set of tires and kept the best for a spare--the problem is a don't have a rim to put it on. Any suggestions on the internet or otherwise where I might be able to pickup a black rim to fit at a reasonable price. I assume a full tire and not just a donut will fit in the spare tire holder. Any suggestions are appreciated.Thanks

A full size tire/wheel will fit in the carrier, but the carrier must be dropped down to accomodate the extra width. Look at the forward part of the carrier and you wil see the lower notch that is used when the road tires is there. You will lose about 3" of ground clearance.
You might try posting in the C4 Parts For Sale/Wanted section to see if you can pick one up there. Somebody may even know whether or not the small spare was Corvette-specific or you can use a generic GM one.

I have been trying to sell several of my extra saw blade wheels off a 95 for use as a spare for some time now. I am surprised no one wants a full size spare. Not only is the donut unless for any extended use but a full size wheel gives you the chance to have another matching tire incase a tire is damaged beyond repair. This is especially important because as I found tires are discountinued and when you can not find a replacement you have to buy another full set. This happened to me twice-once with my Gatorbacks and once with my now discontinued BFG T/A Comps. You only get one chance to repair a speed rated tire after that a tire repaired twice is no longer strong enough to be considered safe at speed.
