I had the same experience about a year ago. I think the $3.95 for fast service is miss leading. After calling on my order and getting a refund of the $3.95 and looking at the UPS tracking -- the extra money means faster processing service at Eckler's, not faster shipping. I told Pam at Ecklers that should be explaned a little better at there web page.

I'm sure lots of people have war stories to tell about Ecklers. Seems like it might be time to write a letter to the owner on behalf of the forum users, what do you think?
About Express Service, I didn't look long but on the website I found this "Express Rates apply to U.S. only and are limited to in-stock, non-oversize items with a total order weight of less than 20 lbs."
In the catalog I found this: "Eckler's standard order processing time for US orders is 24 hours. If you need your US order shipped same day, call us monday thru friday before 1:00 pm and request Express Service. For just $3.95 we'll provide special handling of all in-stock parts and ship your order the same day.
I think it says explicitly that this is a 'kick in the butt' fee to get them to process the order faster. Nothing to do with shipping means, and states US orders and in stock parts.
Sounds to me like they need to make improvements in their mail order business. They are much nicer people when you visit them.
