1986 Security system
Can anyone explain the '86 security system to me? How it works and all that junk? Waiting for my owners manual to come in and I'm paranoid that somehow I'm going to set the thing off or something and have no idea how to do anything with it.

If you reach inside the vehicle to open your door when its locked the alarm while go off. I think if you do that to reset you must cycle the lock using your key.

basically all you need to worry about is locking and unlocking the door with the key, and never reach inside to open it from outside

mine is 88 and the brothers that just tried to help you are right on, i parked "valet" with the lid off and the parking guys did what they are told to do, lock the doors and hand the key to the owner.... with the top off and the door locked, and the keys in my hand, i reached over and unlocked the door from the inside. that was o.k. untill we got in and put the keys in the switch!
it was really special at the main entrance of the casino and we were looking like car theives of a 16 year old car, as the horns blatted their best help! im being raped! help!honk''''honk....honk! Ididn't know how to shut it off so we drove off to a parking spot away from the front doors of the casino. (they had parked it there to show it respect) and i disconnected both horns. then when i was able to think, we re-locked both doors with the motor and all off and then "re-entered" the car using the KEY. ....later i reconnected the horns.... what fun!
