Replacing windshield wiper motor
Now I understand why it says rotate the motor 180 degrees before pulling it in the manual.
Problem is, I can't rotate the motor.
My door pannels are off so i took the winshield wiper switch and plugged it into the harness in the door panel. THe switch was left in the "on" position. I then used jumper cables to bring power to the car.
All the lights went on, but the motor did not turn. Any ideas? Is there perhaps another way of turning it over so i can remove it?

Re: Replacing windshield wiper motor (Bilyk)
On my '87, there are 3 10mm(I think) bolts that hold it to the firewall. I also remove the screen under the windshield held in place by 4 torx bits to acess the nut securing the wiper arm mech. to the motor. Remove the 2 electrical plugs, and it should pull right out. No twisting required.

Did you remove any of the connectors on the motor yet?
If you didn't, reseat the connector in the door and jiggle
the switch, it should work...

Actually, you can manually move the arm should you need to.
Remove linkage and replace the nut, you should be able to
move the arm to the 4 oclock position so you can remove motor..
I just had to do this to replace oil press sender..

How do I remove the arm? I removed the bolt on the arm but the arm is firmly glued to the motor

Work very carefully with a thin screwdriver, the arm is a very tight fit on the motor but it will come off. It's a bear to get back on too. After you get it off you can lift your motor right out but there's a 3rd plug in on the bottom and this is your main power source. Maybe it came off, and that's why you have no wipers

Well if all is still connected, then maybe you blew a fuse.
Dont know what else to tell ya here..
Just move it manually, remove the motor and go from there.
Put everybody back together and re troubleshoot.
At least you'll get some other work done in the meantime.
Good luck
