Does anyone know where the "switch" or wires are that controls the radio turning off after the key has been removed and the door is then open.

After a cruise in a hard driving rain last week all of a sudden the hatch button on the driver side door no longer works and the radio won't shut off when the key is removed and the door open.

So, any idea's how and where I should start the troubleshooting?

i would check the pushbutton-like door switches first located in the jamb. i had exactly the same symptoms and i noticed these switches were sticking. i just shot them with some WD-40. no problems ever since.

the hatch will not open unless it detects one of the doors are open. if the switch is screwed it thinks both doors are closed, hence your radio stays on and you can't open the hatch.

try both doors. i'd bet one of them would work.

Interesting, I thought the only requirement for the manual was the car had to either be not running, or the parking brake engaged if it is running. (at least it's like that in mine)

In the auto, either in park (while running) or turned off.

Get a test light or a voltmeter and test the hatch switch for power. The door pin switches go out after time. Had a friend when he hit a bump, the interior light would come on. More than likely with water in it, it's on the blink. Door panel needs to come off for door pin replacement.

sorry... i was only talking about the hatch switches on the door jambs. now that i think about it, i think the door that you toggle the hatch switch needs to be detected as open.

the yellow button in the consolve will work regardless, as you have stated.

Amazing1, check to see if the interior lights turn on when you open the door when you encounter your problem. if they do not, i would bet my left nut it's the door switch.

Thanks everyone for your advice. It appears to be the door switch that is not working correctly. It doesn't look like it is sticking, but when I got out of the car early today and the radio did not turn off, I pushed the button in a few times until magically the radio turned off.

I might try removing it to check for a loose wire but in the end I just might need to replace the switch...
