Thanks for the reply and helpful information.
The car goes to the shop tomorrow, kills me not to be able to do this myself, and I'll let you know how it goes. I'm not doing an R134 conversion right now but if this doesn't work out ... a switch to R134 may be in the future.
Keep the information coming ... I searched the archives and didn't find much on this subject... might helpful for future reference
Thanks Again!!

Well I had a local A/C guy service the system today. It only required 3/4 of a pound of 414 to fill it. He actually evacuated the entire system filtered the old R12, replaced the oil and topped it off with R414. Says he's been doing this for two years without any problems and it's definitely colder then it ever was.
Thanks for all of the advice!!

I converted my wife's old Mercury with a kit from Murray's last year and it is still working great and she uses it everyday. Since the system was dead I just added the R134. According to the destructions, the oil in R134 will work with the old oil in R12. That way you don't have to have the system flushed. I'm thinking on using the kit on my 93 when the time comes.
