Default How to remove water spots from windshield/door glass

I have baked on water spots only on the glass of my car, it is on all the outside glass. No cleaner even makes a dent in it, if there a way I can get them out? Thanks!!!!

Try using a clay bar, that should do the trick.

Be careful...but I have used a new, clean razorblade to remove stubborn water spots on my Scout II's glass.

You could also try some of the clear polishes made by manufacturers like Meguiars.

Then again...you could always try a 50:50 water to vinegar mixture...if you can stand the odor.

I used #0000 steel wool with some glass cleaner as a lubricant, it works very well.

Whenever you work with something like this, the general rule is to always use the weakest solution or chemical you can which will do the job. Start with a weak solution of water and vinegar. Maybe a little straight vinegar on a towel and work small areas. Then move to a lime removal solution ( again, diluted with water). What you see on the window is mineral deposits from a car wash or your own garden hose. In extreme cases, use a glass polishing compound. I have used a polishing kit from Eastwood company which mixes a powder with water. Then you buff the glass with your drill and the enclosed special wheel. That will clean up the glass as clean as it can get. Good Luck. With a little ellbow grease and some TLC you can clean that windshield up nicely.

Of the above posts, I can tell you what I have tried that HASN'T worked for me. Vinigar at any concentration, clay bar, chrome polish, all kinds of glass cleaners. When you find what works for you, please post it or email me about it. It can't be that tough, detail shops seem to be able to do it no problem.

Default I use RainX

RainX is a great product. It gets rid of all spots and puts a coating on the glass that repels water. Give it a try.

Try this. Costs about $2 for a 2-pack. My cleaning lady had me buy this to get water spots off of the glass shower doors. Works great!

The water spots on your windows are calcium deposits from the hardness of your water. Simply use water and vineger, and they will be gone. You only need about a 10 to 1 ratio of water to vineger. Also only dot his in the shade where it is cool. After you are done cleaning off the spots, apply your favorite polish to the windsheild. Zaino works the best.

You can also use the vineger and water trick to remove water spots from your car after washing it.

There is no safer way to remove the calcium spots.
