Default What's a good replacement brake pad?

I have been told to buy ceramic pads. I found these on the forum, does anyone else have these or is there better ones. My driving style is street and yearly " spirited" driving in the mountains. I also have Baer Eradispeed+ 2 piece rotors. I like the idea of low dust as explained by these pads.

I also notice an annoying squeal with stock pads and cross drilled rotors at lower speed light braking at stop lights. Any reason why?

I got a couple of good pad suggestions in my "Caliper removal" thread in tech.. But, like you, I'd like to put on a set of pads that had low dust..

I've been using the Performance Friction Z-rated pad from AutoZone and they work much better than the OEM pads. Plus they have a lifetime warranty. Even with the stock rotors, they worked well at the auto-X.

Ceramic pads will wear the rotor down more but they stop well and work better when hot. I had Ceramix pads from NAPA and they performed flawlessly for about 40,000 hard miles.

I have since switched to Hawk HPS and so far so good.

Default Lowest dust pads....

The lowest dust pads are from AutoZone...The PFCs Z rated. They are almost no dust, work well with heat and have a lifetime guarantee. I also have a 1996 and have had the PFCs for at least six months and love them.

I'm using Hawk HPS too. Have no complaints yet about 20k on them.

Here's anothe bote for Ceramix. I had the NAPA ceramix on my 86 for 30,000 quiet, trouble free miles before selling it. I put the Ceramix on the rears of my 96. Because of the price of the Ceramix I put the EBC Greenstuff on the front. While they are performing well and are quiet I liked the Ceramix much better.

If you read the original link on Tire Rack you will see that they claim reduced rotor wear for Ceramix, quiet, low dusting, good stopping. The only drawback is the same as any other pad for the street, don't go autoxing with them.

What's not to lilke?

I installed the EBC Greenstuff pads about six months ago but, they do dust a lot. I used the PFC-Z rated pads before and they were a lot better for braking and showed Very Low dust. I'm switching back to the PFC-Z's when the Greenstuff pads wear out.

I experienced some fading with stock pads in spirited mountain driving and replaced them with four SBC Pro-touring ceramic (stock rotors). So far I like them (4000 miles)
