no, Ecklers does not sell THAT kit...

This is the one where you remove the roll over hoop. It's snake oil.

The chassis will shake, rattle and roll like Tokyo in an earthquake.

The rollover hoop is the main structure of a coupe. Remove it, yuck.

This kit may include parts, but it also includes instructions on where to place the sawzall.

Yeah, search online for corvette crashes. Notice what that roll bar looks like. Now imagine the crash without that bar....ouch!
I feel really safe in my vette, but I wouldn't if it had a major structural componet straight up sawed off!

The words "sawzall" and "Corvette" should not be used in the same topic of conversation.

This is what I have my eye on. Cost $795 minus 5% discount plus $32 shipping plus $55 crate fee. This is offered by Corvette Central. Looks sweet to me and needs absolutely no body modification to fit! Take a look!

What a joke of a product. Cutting the B pillar will not destroy the rigidity of a car but also destroy the handling all together.

I am willing to bet that is one of the worse riding and handling vettes on the planet!

Wellwith the "B",its handle like a Vert I guess......So if verts are the worst handling vettes around, I guess you are right

And if you own a Z51/52, you will have some of the same structual improvments as the vert.

I wouldent do this to my vette! no doubt. Just found it interresting....

This is the company ruining perfectly good C4s

http://www.c5west.com/dex.html

I got to admit when I first saw it, I was considering it, but now I can understand that this would kill a bunch of rigity in the car's structure.

Not only that, you had better be real careful with the back glass, those are pricy.

I have one of those, the original convert-a-coupe designs (not the newer cheapo ones). Had it on the car for a few seasons, looks cool with the top off, and lightens the rear up also. I liked it, but don't use it anymore.. I actually firmed mine up a bit with some extra bolts.

No.

Verts have the cross brace to help make up for no roof and a taller partition structure behind the seats to help make up for no halo bar. They're still much less rigid, but nowhere near as bad as this.

There is also more metal behind the dash, I think...

Well, things can be done to help with the body-flex... R&D Cross-brace, crossframe... I think its cool, if I didn't have an aftermarket stereo and need the hatch, I'd consider it.
