Corvette Events - C5 world?
About 2 years ago, I got back into a Corvette for the first time in 20 years. Buying a very clean Dark Red Metalic 94 coupe/6-speed. I looked up my old Corvette club, that I belonged to in the 60's and 70's and got a rather rude awakening....it seems like its a C5 world, when you attend any Corvette events. Usually 80% of the cars there are C5's, and everyone fonds over that group. Of course the new C6 is stealing some of their thunder, but it seems to me, that if you drive a C4, and show up at an event, you are sort of regarded as the ugly red-headed step-child. Check out the photos on this forum from most Corvette gatherings.....very few non-C5 pics, even when the other models are in attendance.
Some of the C5 folks might say "hi"...but no one has the least bit of interest in your car. C1 and C2 owners get more attention, mainly out of curiousity, and C3 owners are usually totally ignored.
When I was in my Corvette club in the past, we had C1's C2's and C3's, and it seemed that everyone appreciated each other's Corvettes. There was no clique with any model group. Just wondered if other C4 owners have noticed this type of behavior from the C5 owners?

Let them think what they want I had a 99 coupe c5 and hated it compared to my 95 vert.
the c6 is the new kid on the block c5 being the best and downing the c4 days are over the c5's is a c6 wanna be look alike.

I've noticed something similar to that with my friends' C4s at car shows. I don't get that kind of reaction with my C4 at car shows. I usually get lots of attention. The 2 clubs that I belong to River Cities Corvette Club and Corvettes of Northeast Louisiana have been such great clubs and I haven't noticed any of that within those clubs.
Then again, my C4 is not your usual run-of-the-mill C4 so that may have something to do with. And then again, maybe not.

My corvette club is full of a bunch of folks with different model generations of vettes. Everyone is there to have fun. It doesnt matter what you have.

Do some burnouts while they're sipping on their wine. It'll make them choke on their cheese!
A little misbehavin' wakes up the folks who only know new Vettes. That's what is most fun about C4s. They are not too refined to have outrageous fun.

I've been on a few cruises here in SoCal, and my 85 has been the oldest car every time. C5s outnumber the C4s 10 to 1. All the C5 guys seem rather level headed, some of them owned a C4 or older at some point anyways.
Honestly, if I had more money when I went shopping for vettes, I would have been looking at Z06s. But I bought my 85 for $7200, and I'm enjoying it.
They sure know it wasn't expensive, but when they see me riding their $40K big azz on a twisty road, I think they see its true value.

Yep, C5's are definitely in the majority on any SoCal event I've been to. Not that their owners are snobs or anything, it's just that the C4-3-2-1 owners are absent!
There are couple of cool C4 owners who regularly show up, but the Corvette social world is very similar to the Corvette aftermarke/catalogs: 99% C5.
