Just how bad is the wheel cover? I use Kiwi liquid shoe polish to dress up my original wheel. Looks good, doesnt come off or get sticky. And its cheap. Next to the air in the tires its the best I've had going in a while...

Just claim it's a defective item being returned? I don't think they'll nail you for the fees (taxes) if worded properly.

Don't know about Danmark, but if you are going to do that in Germany, you have to get a form from Customs when you send the defective part back, so it can come back duty-free.
The Danes have to pay a 200% luxury tax there and I'm not sure how much the import tax is, so with shipping you are looking at near $150(probably more) for a $40 Wheelskins cover. I can just take it with me next week and Lars can drive down to pick it up, its not but about 50 miles each way.
Can you imagine how much a replacement steering wheel would cost him!! skoal!
