I'm new to this forum so I don't know if this topic has been covered before. I have an '84 and there are places on the car where the clear coat has come off. Is there any remedy other than having the whole car repainted ?? It's a driver so I'm not looking for a showroom finish. Just something that looks and protects better than what I have now. The paint itself is in great shape. Any help / suggestions is greatly appreciated. Thanks !!! Steve szc1069@yahoo.com

You can try cutting the paint with a heavy compound but that is only going to clean it up a little and you will still have no clearcoat protection for the basecoat. Really you need a new paint job. You may be able to find someone to put a cheap paintjob on the car but then you loose value on it because if someone wants to buy the car they may look at it where they need to do even more work to get it to look right. Sorry its not the answer you were looking for.
