just playin... I wouldn't worry about the rear defrost. All of my cars have tinting over the rear defrost and it works fine.

And on to the answer of the day......trust me on this. It's not that hard but you have to make a decision.
When you peel the top layer of tint off.Take note whether it comes off easy or comes off in tiny pieces. If tiny bits are what you can only get then take it somewhere. It's gonna be a PITA.
here we go..pay attention!!
Put the car in the sun for a few hours with the back glass getting the sun.Once it warms up you will need to pull it into the shade.
1.pull the film of tint off.slowly and steady will get best results.
2.Take a solution of Glass cleaner....(the trick here is to make your own.HIGH ammonia is what eats the glue off) Spray it liberally on the glue that is left under the tint film and get the entire window and keep it wet...it will start to melt the glue...take rags and wipe it off in a one-way pattern.
You'll get the hang of it...it's kind of a timing thing. It's messy more than anything else.
be careful of your paint on the car...some paintjobs are not to tough and can streak with window cleaner running down them.Easy fix but why bother goofin a good wax job up.
good Luck
On side windows, or glass without defrost lines, rip the tint off(with heat, it'll come off in one big pc), Windex and a razor blade and your home free.

100% correct!!!! strong solution of amonia is the best for removing tint adhesive. Believe it of not windex will do the job just fine but you will have to do it several times. Just get the window soaking wet with windex or amonia and let it sit for a while then soak it again (of coarse this is after you peal the tint off). then use a terry cloth towel while the window is dripping with windex and it will come right off. I retint my trucks about once every 2 years cause the tint fade out. This is exactly how I remove mine.

I have to agree - I ONLY use 3M - It's the only tint I've never had a problem with fading.

I suppose since I'm getting older I'm respecting the law a lot more and just want to comply to make both our lives easier.
In PA here we have this support you local chiefs of police thing. They call you and ask for donations and when you donate you get this little sticker you can put in your back window. It's not a get out of jail free ticket but I know it's saved my but once.

Seriously, my rear window defroster has a bad spot on it that needs to be fixed. One of these days, I'll get off my lazy butt, peel off the bubbled tint, and fix the defroster. I had a place down here tint my camaro. They did a great job. It was seamless, and it lasted for the three years that I had the car.
Good luck peeling your tint.

did this to my truck, the tint shops want way to much for such an easy job.
