$20k into a car worth $10k
bought the car missing many engine/trans parts
but was good paint, and good interior carpet.
restored the fx3 suspension
was going to use my other c4’s engine but that engine was bad from a defective camdhsft. So I had to build an all new forged 383 off of it.
The cam is super mild 218ish duration but .580 lift with the 1.7 roller rockers i put on it. Has 1 3/4” headers and afr195 comp elim heads from my old
engine. 26 lb flywheel with spec stage 3+ clutch disc. The car is for my wife
took advantage of the snow/ice to do some ‘brake lock-ups’ which made the service abs light go off
the service ride control light also went off after a few test runs in my driveway
its taken 2 yrs but its getting back to life.
still needs exhaust
So many issues ive had to fix:
dragging door locks
falling off door panels
unlowered the car
poor ride quality
broken power seats
broken headlight gears
broken power antenna
non functional speaker amps
Burnt out dash bulbs
crappy 12” front brakes i replaced with 13’s
bad master and slave cylinder
(and more)
sagging tilt steering that oversize bushings made better but didnt completely fix
now the d44 is leaking and will have to completely remove it, reseal the batwing and replace the dry rotted batwing bushings with poly
I had it aligned but the alignment guy tripped and broke off the pass shark fill panel that I just had refinished - he is getting a new one refinished for me
Next i have to get its a/c filled and converted to r-134…..
a long road
this low end torque 383 mild cam set up is fun to drive but feels different when breaking loose tires
this car / it feels like i have so much more time to correct and react when breaking loose traction compared to the other one
this car feels like it handles better (it rides lower).
i also have the front wheel track pushed out nearly an inch with different hubs to accomodate the 13” brembo calipers
