Default WTB 85 c4 locking lug nut key

Hey, so yesterday I finally went to replace my tires on my 85 vette and I figured out it has one locking lug nut on each wheel. I was told it's oem but not positive. I tried banging a bit socket on it and had no luck, brought it to a tire place and they tried the same thing and ruined four sockets with no prevail, then I went to another and they tried an air chisel to spin it but the stupid lug nut just broke of the tip of two of their chisels. (what are those crazy lug nuts made of?)

So does anyone have a key they could sell me?

Here's a pic of the lug nut.

If that is the threaded perimiter style oem, I have one from a 1985 vette. I'm not sure what they cost, but how about $20.00 shipped.

don't have one for sale, but have you tried a tire center? i'm thinking those shops usually have the means of removing those locking lugsnuts. BTW, go back to stock lugnuts - those thing were some of the first things i got rid of on my cars.

doesn't look like the lock nut on my 85. Mine had threads on the outside that the special nut key screwed on to to keep it against that pattern you see on the nut. If it's oem, there should be a locknut key in the car somewhere. Did you check in the rear compartment where the jack is? Is there a nut key attached to it?
How about a lugnut key code in the owners manual?
Others have drilled into the bolt and used an ez out. A socket should work too, but not with an air wrench.

looks like a mcgard spline drive, years ago when I worked at a tire store we used old impact sockets and pounded the on to take these off when the key got lost. Harbor freight there ya go !!!

I agree that a tire shop can assist in removeing them for you with a tapered socket specially made to remove these!
