I may be wrong, but I do not believe that the 113 head valves will clear the 283 block bore.

You are correct. Need to notch the top of the bore and look really close at the valve relief in the piston

I disagree, the difference in bore is only .125, and so each side is only .0625. Sure, put it together and check if you like, but we used to put early fuelie heads on 283's with 2.02 without additional machining. Could be it was so long ago I just can't remember.
