Default Spare Tire Foam Pad

Late model C4s had 1/2 circle foam pad between spare & frame to protect from frame imprint/damage.

Thx

Thanks for the pics. Seems to be a hard part to find. Corvette salvage yards aren't too keen on this high ticket item.

Since you don't see it, couldn't you just cut it out of appropriate material?

ESPECIALLY if it's sold for an arm AND a leg!

That is a real possibility were not for the fact that this is for NCRS and they do inspect the spare & carrier & the pad is an item that is noted. I suppose it's only 1 point deduction, if at all, but if I can find one on the cheap, it's worth it. I do have a donor car as a last resort.
Thx

I'll look tonight in the garage to see if I have one. I can't recall if it ended up back with the car before I sold it or not.

When removed from the car they look all smashed up, like this one off a 1996. You can see the tire imprint on the second photo. I have this one with a complete set, basket, hangars, spare tire, jack, lug wrench, and big bolt that goes to frame.

Do you see any evidence of adhesive? Was it glued to the frame?

No, I did not, it appeared on mine to have just been slipped in there while tightening the nut that draws the basket up tight to the frame. If their was any adhesive, it was very little or very light. Honestly, I see no indication of any adhesive being used.

Thanks for the pics. This one is a little more beat up than I would want. I have all the other parts.
As far as adhesive goes, yes they were originally "glued" on. My '95 is adhered with a thick caulking type material and the '96 clearly shows the outline of the original with a rough surface indicating some sort of adhesive, possibly a very light application.

Appreciate the effort.
