This one may be as close as you’ll ever get. I sold a fellow GS Owner a used one and he did NCRS with no issues. Your call though not like these are sitting around.... they were meant to be disposable

Default Date code on filter

Can someone breakdown how the date code is formatted .
I have an 89 if that matters

thanks

Agump

6F17D =
6 (1996) F (June ) 17(day of month) D ( day of week or shift)

or or is the 17D should read as 170 the julian date which falls in the month of June

This is my guess , thoughts ?
anyone know if the 84-90 filters were dated?

AGump

Default Air Filter

I believe that this is the correct way to look at the date code.
6F17D =
6 (1996) F (June ) 17(day of month) D ( Day shift)

This air filter would be appropriate for a very late 1996 Corvette.
The current NCRS 94-96 does not show a date code requirement for these air filters. However, this is going to be rectified in the revised edition.
This is my opinion and not the official position of NCRS.

Thanks for the explanation as I was telling the guy interested, at this time NCRS was not necessarily looking at the date rather that the filter is the correct grey foam one for 1996 Corvettes.

Default Date Codes on Air Filters

I hope that this helps. I have some limited information and photos.
The very early C4's 84 until ? had AC Spark Plug air filters with a part number of A917C and no date code, From at least 1990 until 1993 the air filter was an AC Rochester, part number A1097C and no date code. Around 1994 I began to see date codes on the AC Rochester Air Filters,
This carried forward until another change took place sometime late 1995 or early 1996, the filter was then an AC Delco with a date code.
This information comes from STUFF individuals have sent me over the years. I know for a fact the 1994-95 Corvettes had the AC Rochester Air Filter with part number A1097C as that was the era of my 1995 Corvette and that was the correct Air Filter.
If anyone has photos, please pass them on to me so that I can add them to my STUFF.
Also, if someone has something different, please let me know as I am always trying to update my STUFF.
Again, this is my personal opinion and the Official Opinion of NCRS.

As I understand it OEM filters were not dated until after 1993. When my 1990 was judged I was told the filter should not have a date code.
