Default D36 with 3.54

testing the waters, looking for a D44 for my car and if I find one at the right price I will be selling my D36 with 3.54 gears that I got from another member on here. I believe his car was an 88 with miles in the 55K range with newer gears. currently in my running driving car working perfectly. curious to see what is a fair price. my car is an automatic. these gears really woke my car up after ditching the dreadful 2.59

you can go do a search on finished auctions on eBay. there are a bunch of differentials and batwings listed, with varying prices, but as some of the folks here say, asking price is not getting price. that is a true statement. based on some of the prices being asked, I think that there are a lot of optimistic crack smokers listing D36's for sale.

Yea. I don't want to be that crack head .I realized that when I couldn't sell mu other D36 I pulled out for $75 . But I would pay much more for a set up 3.54 .proven .Gears and set up alone has got to be in the $500 range

I am going to be facing the same dilemma when I go to sell the low mileage 3.07 D36 that is coming out of my car. There are lots of Dana 44's around, most sellers have done their homework and know what they are selling for. Not only do we have other C4 aficionados competing with us to buy them, but we have business such as Mongoose Motorsports that acquire D44's to put in their 62 Grand Sport Replicas and at least a couple other businesses that I have found that use them.

You could keep searching for that pot of gold, or just find a reasonably priced one, and rebuild it. If it was me, I would consider getting the snap rings from Tom's Differentials soon. You never know how long they will keep it going.

Did you ever decide on an asking price or if you want to sell your D36? I have an '88 with the (I'll use your kind description of "dreadful") 2.59 gears. I'm in northern New Jersey as well as shipping would not be an issue.
Thanks,
Keith

I decided against going with a Dana 44 just going to keep it the way it is I think the user renegade has a set of gears for a Dana 36 that are 354

I have a few sets of 3.45 for the Dana 44 rears. The Dana 36 presently in your car has the 3.54 in it. That was the only set I had for the Dana 36.

I'm not opposed to the 3.45 either, I think anything would be an improvement from my current 2.59 setup.

Anybody went from the 259 to the 345 is it that much better for the work it takes to make the change . I was thinking about just open the thing up ( Dana 36 93 auto ) and going with a set of 373 and get it over with .. I see 345 around don't seem to be that hard to find but are buying junk are a good rear ?????.. That's the question for me .. Way too much work to be installing a bad rear .. Just thinking out loud ..
