Default Bellhousings WANTED

Listers,

We are in the process of reproducing the GM 10.5 (xxxx403 & 383 model) and 11inch (xxxx621 and 497) bellhousings. These will be available in the first quarter (Jan-Mar) of 2005. These brand new reproductions will be in the $199-249 range (possibly less), and look as original. However, they will be thicker wall and of a much stronger titanium-aluminum alloy.

At this time, we are not reproducing the bellhousing used on C4 with DNE transmission, but we are purchasing good used DNE bellhousings. We are not purchasing ZF bellhousingss.

In the meantime, we need some good used parts to sell for our automatic conversion customers. For the 10.5 inch & DNE 4+3 bellhousings, we are paying $30-50 each for a good undamaged part. For the 11 inch bellhousings (1967-82), we are paying $50-100 each for a good undamaged part.
Our definition of a good undamaged part is:
1. MACHINED FEATURES CONDITION - mounting faces, dowel pin and mounting holes in good condition; faces not chipped or heavily gouged, holes not wallowed out/drilled out and no broken bolts in the threaded holes (dust cover, transmission mounting, side pivot ball)
2. NO CRACKS UP THE SIDE, GOOD OVERALL CONDITION - the part should not be damaged internally from clutch/flywheel failures, have any chunks or chips missing, and the outside should look good with no visible repairs. A quick check of cracks/splits is to hold the bellhousing up in the air from the large 4-5/8 bore and tap the outside wall with your knuckle. If it rings for a while, it might be good. If it has a dull sound, it has crack in it somewhere. The cracks are very thin, and of the bellhousing is very dirty, you may not see it.
3. FAIRLY CLEAN - you should clean the bellhousing will Simple Green or Purple Power type cleaner. For top dollar, we look to see the bellhousing cleaned up, as you would selling most used parts.
4. MEASURE TRANSMISSION MOUNTING HOLE (front bearing retainer hole) - it should be 4-5/8 diameter. We do not want the bellhousings having smaller or larger holes.
5. CORRECT PART NUMBER - look on the side of the bellhousing, opposite the clutch fork hole, and confirm the part number above. The DNE 4+3 part has 2 bolt holes (5/16 or 3/8) at the fork hole cover.
