I think I am the only member who has had all three( Hurst, B&M, and the shortest of them all White Racing). Not to mention I have all of them right now. I just sold the WR and the Hurst and will ship them out tomorrow. Anyway, I am keeping the B&M but my advice is the Hurst is the best all around shifter.

I am having a B&M put in this week. I have tried it in a friends car...playing "Hanger Pilot" ...not actually driving the car around...When I shifted it, I looked at him and said "Is that it"..man it was short compared to stock. I liked it..It's going to be nice using it to test out the new clutch and 4.11s......

Use to have a Kurt White short shifter... it was pretty good... have the Hurst now, but need to do some shimming around "top plate" ( Is that what it is called ? ) It is easy to miss 3rd on a fast shift... and fifth is a bit tricky sometimes even at normal shift change speed...
My vote... Hurst

Do as I say not as I do???????

Sounds like a vote for B&M, why would you keep it if the Hurst is better???

I, too, had entertained the idea of a shorter shifter. I then asked an SCCA competitor on the national level what he thought about a shorter shifter. He responded that he missed shifts in his LT4 while autocrossing a few times with his aftermarket shifter so he dropped the transmission and reinstalled the factory shifter. That was good enough for me to stay with the stock one. YMMV.

From what I have read, the Hurst is better for street and autox uses, the B&M for drag racing.

I have the Hurst, and it is very nice.

Bill Bidreau at www.zfdoc.com suggests removing the paint from the bottom of the shifter, it will fit better and be less prone to binding.

I have a Hurst and like it.

But if you waant to keep the stock look and keep a reverse lockout, if you have it, try White Racing's stock shifter retrofit kit.

I like the extreme shortness of the B&M. Hurst is more of a all around shifter. I have purchased the Hurst twice and now sold it twice. Just sold the White Racing one too. I will try and post pics later of the B&M, Hurst and stock all next to each other to show how different they all are. I haven't shipped out the Hurst yet. The B&M has the shortest upper part of the stick and longest lower part to give it the shortest shift of those three. THe White Racing is the shortest of them all. It is so raical that you have to grind some of the webbing on the trans to keep from hitting it.
