Question about stock internals on an L98

Default Question about stock internals on an L98

What kind of internals does an 1991 L98 vette have? These are my specific questions:

2 or 4 bolt main caps?
Are the pistons, hyper's, forged, or something else?
Are the rods 5.7 inch GM "pink" rods, or something else?
The crank is just a cast unit, correct?

2 bolt main, cast crank, worst part is the "thin" rods GM started using in 89.

thier are junk.in the 89 (not forged)potmetal cheapest..many pistons out there,, i replaced with super hyper flat tops 10.5 seal power 345NGR..

Cast, I believe 85s possibly 84s too had Froged TRW's though.

Yes. The only difference in the '84 and '85 long blocks, is the camshaft.

Pretty much the same as the '91, above. Except better rods and forged pistons.

My 1990 internals are spread out on the garage floor. They are telling you right, in the above posts. 2 bolt mains. The pistons are good for ashtrays, although mine lasted 108k with no ill effects. I replaced with better ones. The rods are skinny and replaced with Forged ones. The crank is cast also. However my ZZ4 replacement engine has all the goodies. Hyper pistons, pinked rods, forged crank.... and it is going great. Makes me wonder why I am building this super engine in garage???
