Has anyone installed a keyless entry system for an 87? I used to have a 94 that had it, and I just got this 87 a few days ago. I may be wrong, but from what I've read it wasn't offered in that year. Has anyone tried any aftermarket systems?
Put one in mine, along with remote hatch and windows. Used the Valet 710T for the doors and hatch; added the 530T modul to control the windows. It's been a while, but I know I did it all in afternoon (3-4 hours, including beer breaks).

Buy yourself a helms, you'll be getting friendly with the electrical diagrams. I wired up my 85, but there's plenty of differences between ours in the TDM and locks.
I just installed a GM vke1000 keyless entry system on my 1989 vette last weekend. Do a search on e-bay, they have a couple kits on there now. I have a link to a site that has the detailed directions for how to install. Very detailed instructions, tells every wire by color. It even has a button for opening the hatch and the remote has the GM logo.

87clwy, for your windows, does this unit force them all the way up and down?
How many channels does your fob have? I wonder if the module sends a timed signal to the motors, or does it shut off based on overamp? (I'm guessing not the latter, since you can't detect the motor amp through a relay.)
I wanted to add this function to my keyless, but never implemented it.
I took a close look at Batee's site, but found a few mistakes. I used the same unit and redesigned all the wiring. It's on my website. In fact I even missed part of it too.
You'll need to get creative with relays to make this unit activate the factory alarm with doors closed.

I have a 2 button/3 channel fob. Button 1 locks and unlocks the door. When you lock the doors, the windows will close (completely) no matter how far open they are. Button two opens the windows; if you press and release the button, the windows will open a little (each time you do it), if you press and hold the button for a second, the windows will completely open. If you press buttons 1 & 2 at the same time, the rear hatch opens.

Thats a cool setup! I'd have to give up my stereo control though.
I've wired my third function to turn on the stereo. I turn it off by locking the door. And after a drive, the stereo now stays on until I lock the doors.
This comes in pretty handy with the top off, out in the parking lot... if we're hangin out up to no good, or to surprise people around my car. Gotta love the "WTF!?" expressions.

Now back to the regularly scheduled thread....
I know what your mean, I love the reaction when I've got the top off, windows down and someone starts to lean a little too far in or puts their hands on the door and I hit the window button
