Default Wanted: Dynaspark feedback

I am looking for comments from you guys who have Dynasparks in your car.
Anybody have a failure?
How many miles on it?
Any difference noticed from stock?

Not sure what you're looking for there. The differences are documented on the manufacturer's website.

Appeared to be very well made. No regrets here.

Can you get the Dynaspark with MSD cap & rotor installed, or do they still used the stock ones?

I would expect bogus to chime in on this one. Meanwhile, I am also considering the Dynaspark in the very near future. My only hangup is the $600 price tag for this beast! I have a '95, so I require the Gen II Opti, and the AC Delco can be had for less that 1/2 the cost of the Dynaspark at:

http://www.superchevyperformance.com...rs/1104032.asp

This job gets a little costly 'cuz I would also replace my WP at the same time.....ARGH....what to do....waht to do.....

Yeah, if I had a 95-96 it would be a little harder decision to make since you already have venting and the OEM unit is cheaper.

With the early-style opti it was a no-brainer.

I would expect they'd be willing to make you a custom one with the MSD parts if you were willing to pay for it, as long as the MSD parts mate to their base exactly like the OEM parts. Not sure why you'd want that though.

This is a long post of my experience for your consideration. I installed a Gen II Dynaspark when I did a head and cam package for my 94. The Dynaspark was in for approximately three months when I removed it to get to the cam and crank sprockets to check the cam timing. After reinstallation, the car started then died after about 30 seconds and would not restart There were no codes so diagnosis of the problem was difficult, but the Dynaspark was a suspect. Not wanting to buy a new opti to install, I removed the Dynaspark and sent it back to Dynotech for testing. They returned saying that everything tested ok. I reinstalled the Dynaspark but still could not get the car to start. Finally, I bought a new GM opti and installed it and the car started right up and has been fine since. I contacted Dynotech and they told me that they would give me an exchange which they did. I still do not know what the problem with the Dynaspark was, but it must have been with the optical source and sensor since there was spark at the plugs with the Dynaspark installed.

Dynotech was very professional and responsive so I have nothing bad at all to say about them or their product. It just did not work for me. The exchange unit they sent me may be for sale in the near future. I just want to make it clear that it is an exchange unit and it appears that it may have been used and rebuilt by Dynotech and I have never installed it.

After MONTHS in the rebuild process, mine may be ready for its 'first start" this afternoon. I do have a new Dynaspark on it. Hopefully, I'll have good news, later.

Default ...dynaspark unit....

...just had one installed on my 94 with 95k on it, went on great, runs great, a lot better than before, i just do not have very many miles on it yet. after learning of all of the improvements and that it is designed for long duration, i decided to go with it, notwithstanding the $600 price tag.

Thanks for the replies guys. I hope more will answer as a lot of us are considering it and would like as much feedback from current users as we can get.
If you consider that some guys have had multiple opti failures the price adds up just 2 would cover the cost.

I like coil on plug, the delteq can be had for the same money and provides a much stronger spark above 4000. this is due to the fact that multiple coils share the job of one. And it allows for a full charge by dividing the duty cycle. I installed one on bruce's car. Super easy

Listen to Baldturbofreak he knows what he is talking about. Delteq or LTCC is the only way to go.

Have had the dynaspark for over a year. I drive my car like i stole it every time I get in it. This means 6400+ rpms and not a problem.

Not looking for Delteq/LTCC feed back here know enough about them to know if the emitter gets dirty they will not work. They do not bullet proof or even paper proof the Opti, if oil or enough antifreeze gets in them.

I really want to hear from Dynaspark users especially those who have had them in for a while or have had them fail. Thanks Guys trying to get a good thread on this device.
