Who's pulling the drop in? If it's you, that waaaaay high. If it's not, it ought to be. Labor to set gears generally runs from $150.00 to $250.00, depending on what he thinks his time is worth and his degree of comfort with the job.

Depending on the mileage, bearings and a new set of posi clutches can be a good idea. You can save much more than half that labor charge if you drop it yourself. OH! Don't forget to swap out the speedo gears.

I pulled my rear in @ 2-hours, quite an easy project actually. And put in the Poly bushings while I was at it. ($50)
I dropped off the Dana 44 and paid $150 for the gear install, and $110 for a set of low mileage 3.45's.
