I searched the forum and found people talking bout it and made it sound simple. I have a Haynes manual and they make it sound simple. they show pictures and describe what I dont have. does anyone know how to get it out? all i see is 2 big bolts that go through the starter and into block. but one of the bolts is blocked by the right side pipe and stuff. i tried loosening the down pipe to header and broke one of the studs off, it sheared right off with me turning it... well it still wouldnt come loose. i then saw two bolts holding a bracket for it, but theres no way to get to it. i'm about to give up, am i missing something or is it this hard?
My headers don't get in the way and it is usaly two bolts and a cloud of dust. You should be able to get a wrench in there without droping any of the exhaust.
yea thats what it looks like to me. theres two big bolts that if you're looking up towrds the top you see them. one is easily reachable, the other is being blocked by a head shield and a big round thing at the bottom of down pipe (have no idea what it is, cat maybe?) there was no way to get a socket in there, the angle is too much. are you saying a angles type of socket would work?
thats what i tried doing as well. i unbolted the 3 nuts from the header (sheared one right off) then undid the coupler after the cat. it still wouldnt budge. thats when i saw that bracket above it that has 2 nuts but are impossible to get tools in there.
whats the deal, are yall doing this on a 95? cause i think it may be different then other models, cause in the manual its not the same as what i have.
I did it on my 94 but it was after I droped the exhaust and it is the same as the 95. I feel your pain and if you can't get this resolved by the time I get home I would be more then glad to look in my Helms and see the step by step procedure. Send me a PM later if you cant get it and I will send you my phone # and talk yu through it.
just incase anyone wants to know i got it done. as i thought it was only those two bolts holding it in. i went to Sears and got a 3/8 drive angle socket (or whatever its called) its the socket that has 6 points of adjustment. it was still a pain to get it to slide over bolt, once i got it on there it was just a matter of getting leverage with a pipe on the rachet and the bolt came loose. 10 mins later i had new one in and car started up with the sound of authority!
