Default figuring out the v.i.n.

my 84 was built in july of 83 according to the info on the car. i want to know how early, numerically speaking. what did the production numbers in the vin begin at, and when did production for the 84 begin?

I believe they were introduced in March 1983.
Serial numbers are from
1G1AY0782E5100001 to 5151547

thanks for the info, that would make mine #12187 off the line. if thats correct the boys in bowling green were darn busy. anybody know total production for 84?

hey thanks for the post, told me what i was asking. seems as though i've got a fairly early 84. those guys at bowling green were busy. seems my 84 was reasonably well appointed as far as options go. wish it still showed.. 21 years of abuse can do that! thanks again!
