Rusty front Y pipe bolts
I`m changing the front Y pipe on my `87 to one without the pre-cats, & a high flow convertor. Has anybody got the stock manifold to Y pipe bolts out without snapping them?. I`ve sprayed the heck out of them with PB Blaster, & LRP 100, but they are still pretty tight. I`ll try loosening them tomorrow after they have soaked overnight. Just wondering if I`m wasting my time.

this is what i'm just about to finish up on. I replaced my front Y pipe to one without precats, then put in a high flow cat, and put on some muffler eliminators. I thought it would be to loud, but I love how it sounds. But to your question, mine just came right off. Only other thing to try is to heat them up if you can. Good luck.

A copla years ago I just hit my front Y-pipe bolts with PB Blaster, let them stand overnight, hit them again in the morning and they all came off without any breaking. I had to put a pipe over breaker bar to loosen a cople of them.
In any case, if you break on just pull the stock header. If that happens it is somewhat of a PITA time wise but not difficult.

Thanks-- hope mine does the same. I got the pipe from the local corette recycling yard for $75.00, & it came with a fairly new cat.
